Starfall Tavern is a fictional restaurant I created, designed as a themed Renaissance diner with its own story, characters, and experiences. It caters to people who enjoy Renaissance-themed outings and seek a fun, unique dining experience. My goal for this project was to develop my illustrative skills and create a cohesive brand identity that could be used across various digital and physical elements.
When I began to decide on the brand's look and feel, I knew I wanted to evoke a warm and cozy atmosphere. I drew inspiration from multiple sources, including themed dining experiences, Renaissance fairs, and fantasy themes. Ultimately, I settled on a simple image of a sleeping dragon perched on a hilltop under the moon. This concept captured the cozy feeling I wanted while ensuring the logo would look good at different sizes. Although I struggled to get the layout just right and went through many iterations and sketches, I finally achieved the finished product I envisioned.
I am proud of this project because it taught me a lot about incorporating organic and illustrative elements into my designs, as well as the importance of persevering through frustrations when something doesn’t look quite right. I believe I succeeded in capturing the look and feel I had in mind for this brand. If I could go back and improve one aspect, it would be texture optimization. I used very large texture files, which slowed down the project significantly. Despite that, I am really happy with how everything turned out, and I hope you like it too!
